Here is more information, tips and advices from us to help you make the best of your holiday at Perelik Palace (PP)……
Accommodation
We currently have two apartments at Perelik Palace. However, it is possible for us to book more apartments for those guests looking to organise a larger group holiday. Please contact us for further information and your specific requirements.
Our apartments at Perelik Palace are extremely well appointed and are fully self-catered with everything you will need to help make your stay an enjoyable and satisfactory one. All apartments at PP are very spacious with high quality furnishings and fittings. All apartments come with bedding and towels provided for your stay. All you will need will be your own personal effects.
Our apartments also boast a free Wi-Fi internet service so you can still keep in touch with the outside world and with your friends and family back home (you will need your own PC or laptop to connect). All apartments have a telephone providing internal and external services (standard charges apply).
The PP reception staff are on duty 24 hours a day and are always ready to help you with any questions you may have.
Skiing
The skiing resort of Pamporovo is well establish and caters for holidaymakers from all over Europe. UK visitors have been coming here for many years, and are well catered for in the resort. The infrastructure and slopes are gradually undergoing upgrading to extend and modernise the skiing experience, and work is underway now on the “Perelik Project” to more than double the available skiing terrain and lifts in the area, making this resort one of the best in Eastern Europe.
Ski equipment hire and lift passes are still very cheap when compared with western Europe (50%), and lift passes and equipment are available to hire directly from the PP complex.
The slopes themselves are a paradise for beginners and intermediates with easy green and blue runs to choose from. For those more adventurous there are some challenging reds and blacks as well as some good off-piste opportunities.
All the slopes are set amid the beautiful pine forests of the Rhodope mountains, and the scenery is stunning wherever you are.
The ski schools here are well established, with English speaking instructors, and the tuition rates are very good value. We can recommend instructors/guides for your individual group requirements.
There are various bars and restaurants scattered all over the ski slopes as well as in the resort village offering friendly service and good food. If you are a “restaurant skier” then Pamporovo is a real joy.
For families looking for an affordable skiing holiday, Pamporovo is very hard to beat.
Getting on and off the slopes
Perelik Palace is located very near to the new six man ski lift (called “lift 6”). This lift runs from the village of Stoikite right up to the top of the mountain (Snejanka Tower).
There are two ways of getting to the nearby lift 6… either by walking/skiing down to the chairlift via a local pathway from PP (600 meters), or by getting on the free regular shuttle bus which goes to and from PP in the mornings and afternoons.
The six man chairlift is suitable for skiers and non-skiers, and you can also return home on the same lift at the top of the mountain to get back home again at any time (without the need to ski down).
The lift takes you to the top of the mountain plateau where there are numerous restaurants, nursery slopes, tuition areas, and a board park. From here, all runs within the resort are accessible, and you can ski down into Pamporovo village, or ski all the way back to the Stoikite village (lift 6) where you started from.
If you wish to get tuition from ski school instructors then you can meet them at the top of the mountain. This makes a holiday at PP very suitable for all ski abilities including absolute beginners.
If you have non-skiers in your party then they can join in the fun and meet you on the mountain for lunch or a drink and enjoy for themselves the great views and atmosphere on the slopes.
Eating in and Eating out
Our apartments are fully self catered, and you will find everything you need to prepare and cook your own meals. However, we thoroughly recommend the large gourmet restaurant at PP which serves local and international cuisine. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in traditional Rhodopean mountain style with open log fires and a great ambience. The menu is extensive, catering for varied tastes, and has a good selection of meals for kids. You will find that the local Bulgarian mountain dishes are delicious (a world away from what you may have experienced in some of the tourist hotels). Vegetarians are particularly well catered for (we can personally vouch for this !) with some beautiful local meat-free dishes and a great variety of salads. At busy times it is worth making a reservation for the restaurant.
An alternative we can offer you is a half-board option at PP. The prices are as follows…..
• Breakfast at €3 per person per day
• 3 course dinner at €8 per person per day
(If you want half-board then tell us when you book)
If you wish to eat out then there are excellent restaurants and bars in Pamporovo village, and also in Smolyan (the local town). Please note that prices in Pamporovo are considerably higher than those at PP and in the local towns.
Entertainment
Perelik Palace has much to offer in the way of entertainment. In the penthouse of PP there is the amazing “Sky bar” which is a great place to relax at the end of the day with your favourite drink. There is also the lobby bar adjacent to the reception. Down below is the two lane ten-pin bowling alley with its own bar, and also the excellent night club and bar. There are also pool tables, air hockey, darts, and an internet room.
In the restaurant and sky bar there are also occasional local entertainers and musicians.
There is a supervised children’s play area and animateur. Add to this the indoor heated swimming pool and children’s pool, and large garden and patio areas and you have a full-on offering for entertainment at PP.
Further afield, Pamporovo has a good selection of bars with nightly entertainment, and Smolyan town has an authentic Bulgarian feel to its own night life.
Shopping
The picturesque local village of Stoikite has some grocery stores (3 minutes by car/taxi), while Pamporovo village (15 minutes by car/taxi) has a wider selection of boutiques and sports shops (at tourist prices). For a typical town centre shopping experience then visit Smolyan (20 minutes by car/taxi) which has a large selection of shops, banks etc (excellent local prices). For a day-out then go to Plovdiv city (80 minutes by car/taxi) which has some great shopping – all at great value Bulgarian prices.
Health & Well Being
Perelik Palace is a haven for those wanting to chill-out and get away far from the madding crowd. The SPA centre here is one of the best we have experienced anywhere in Europe offering a variety of facilities and treatments all at unbeatable prices (let us know if you want to see the treatments menu).
PP is set amid beautiful unspoilt pine forests, with breathtaking views, and excellent marked forest walks. The energy in these mountains is pure, powerful and crystal clear reflecting the extraordinary beauty of this land. This is the land of the legend of Orpheus (song spirit of the mountains), and of the mystical goddess Rhodope. There are powerful natural forces at work here , and these mountains are also the home of the “Great White Brotherhood”. This is a place to nurture your soul and your body.
Getting Around
There are local bus services if you feel like venturing out around the local mountain towns and villages, and taxis are easily found.
If you have your own car then you can safely explore further afield. If you decide to drive then you are advised to always carry with you your car and personal documentation (passport and license) in case you are stopped by the local police who will expect you to produce them. You are also strongly advised to obey speed limits as they enforce them rigidly and impose cash fines on the spot.
Please contact us if you have any questions that we have not covered here.
